Koessen in Tyrol
The village of Koessen in the Kaiserwinkl region is located at 589 m above sea level in a wide basin, flanked by the majestic peaks of the Kaiser Mountains and the gentler ridges of the Kitzbuehl and Chiemgau Alps. From Koessen, you can take the cable car to the top of the Unterberghorn Mountain, where you will have a panoramic view of the neighbouring Kaiser Mountains.
Walchsee in the Kaiserwinkl region
The village of Walchsee (668 m above sea level), located between the lake and the foot of the Zahmer Kaiser Mountain, offers one of the most stunning landscapes found in the Tyrolean lowlands.
The village of Schwendt
The idyllic village of Schwendt (702 m above sea level) is located only 4 km away from Koessen, on a high plateau bordering the western foothills of the Unterberghorn Mountain.
The Rettenschoess pastures
At an altitude of 580 m above sea level, this laid-back mountain community offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nature lovers will relish in the beauty of the Rettenschoess pastures. Here, a number of trails will lead you across the lush, green, wonderfully fragrant alpine meadows. A hikerâ€™s paradise!
The Chiemsee Lake: the Bavarian sea
